The Demon Trap
- the demon shows up
- you talk to it
- then you have to manage it
How do you know the demon is there? It is my ultimate goal to increase your awareness of where and how you drift from God, aka the demon. By showing you that all upsets are the demon, discernment is finally possible.
How do you know the demon is there?
You are upset.
It’s that simple. Every time you are upset, the lesson plan is upon you and God wants you to grow. In the next module, you will be given instructions on how to remove it. This module describes how the demon attacks you when you fail to take action and then in makes you spiritually sicker (further from God).
Normally when you get upset, you go right to your stinkin thinkin and make your upset make sense even though we went deep and saw that the upsets never make sense. In step two, you make it make sense. This is “talking to the demon.” It is the misuse of your rational mind. God gave you brains to use and you can use those brains to navigate the practical problems and goals of the real world but you cannot use your rational mind to solve a spiritual problem. When you do that, you drift away from God and into self. If you’re intelligent, it’s even harder to catch because you can rationalize just about anything.
The demon is sneaky and its lies are very convincing but if they are based on upset they are spiritually sickening.
Beware of: REASONS
This step assumes that you are talking to the demon (in your head justifying your upset). Once you have made your upset make sense (which never made sense because it’s based on a spiritual lie), now you have to spend you energy and focus on managing it.
Example, my boss doesn’t appreciate me. In yesterday’s meeting they didn’t even acknowledge my project completion. I’ve been thinking about it all night. I can’t take it anymore. Why should I work for people that don’t respect or value my work. Tomorrow, I will confront them.
In this example, it’s all hurt feelings. Factually nothing may have actually occurred that was inappropriate. However, now this person is obsessing over it (far from God) and they are no longer focused on their own personal commitment to good work ethic or servings others (instead they have outsourced their value to a person) and now they plan to take action and “manage” their hurt feelings by assaulting their boss with their unresolved spiritual baggage. ….and they will be confused when all they get is conflict in return.
